University of Chicago Chemistry

Illinois Action for Children's purpose is "supporting strong families & powerful communities where children matter most" and they deserve a website that matches those goals. I kept the design bright and approachable on top of a strong UX framework. I created a library of design elements that allows the client to build out highly-visual pages from within the WordPress admin. (launching soon) | role: lead designer | cms: wordpress

With 14 Nobel Laureates from their department, University of Chicago's Chemistry Department needed a website to match their legacy.

On the surface, their site is elegantly simple, fully fluid and calibrated to work on any type of device.

Clear hierarchies and relationships between content types make the site easier to navigate and manage.

Nearly every piece of content on the site can be realted to a research area - faculty, facilities, news and events. Consistent interactions and coloring throughout the site make navigation intuitive. Creating relationships between custom content types makes management a breeze.

Flexible Layouts

In addition to a variety of custom content types and templates, I designed flexible design modules and sidebar widgets so that each page (including custom content templates) can be customized and expanded easily. The modules help keep the design consistent with minimal training - perfect for a university department where student workers are often tasked with updating content.
