It has been a while since I last posted and I have had about a bazillion things change in the past 3 months. I moved to Champaign, IL. I got a new job. I was diagnosed with CRPS.

Mostly, things have been good. The apartment is pretty spiffy. I have a huge kitchen & large bathroom and a teeny tiny living room. I have been cooking and experimenting with gluten free baking.

I am wrapping up the last of my web design clients. I have a few projects in the works (weddingique and frannycakes) as well as a second children’s book. (I need to finish it by Christmas so I have a present for the wee cousins in Connecticut!).

My new job is pretty awesome & I am working on some cool web initiatives there. They are also being understanding about this whole nerve nonsense.

So far this summer, I have had 6 lumbar sympathetic nerve blocks & 2 bier blocks. The second bier block resulted in a trip to the emergency room. I am currently in search of a new pain doc – one in Champaign, so I don’t have to travel.

That about sums up the past few months!

Next up: Germany!

Here is a proposed design I created for a portfolio site for a make up artist I met while getting my make-up done at a Nordstom’s/ MAC event.

While the site is not yet active as she does not yet have a domain (as of this posting), here are the page comps for a simple, clean portfolio site.

My portfolio content is arriving, slowly but surely, to the site. The currently available work is from the past year-ish. New stuff will be added as it is completed and old stuff will be added as I have time.

Exxon Mobile

A second 3-ad campaign, this one an image campaign for the energy company Exxon Mobile. The tagline “We fuel life” is representative of the companies ecological initiatives. The ads show nature at its best and discuss the energy research and conservation efforts.

Hallmark Campaign

This grouping is actually a campaign for Hallmark. The ads try to capture the magic and emotion of sending and receiving cards and pair it with childhood whimsy.

Volvo

The evolution of this project was a bit rocky. I was infatuated with my the design concept that I chose to see through to completion, only to have the project shot down by the instructor.

So I moved on (bittterly) to design #2. It is basic, gets the point across and really has nothing special. Since I couldn’t make it to Europe to photograph a Volvo, I collaged and modified images together to create the final ad comp. This was called “uninspired, but way better” than my first attempt…

So, attempt #3 I finally got it right (at least according to my instructor). I feel that this ad is also uninspired and lacks in creativity, but it won great reviews from my instructor and classmates.
